Vusikaya Mancapa celebrates his 60th birthday with the publication of his first booku2014a meaningful way to honour a lifetime of learning, discovery, and wisdom. The stories in this book form a collection of achievements, tributes, and memories, both personal and communal, alongside the challenges, struggles, and trials he has experienced and witnessed throughout his life.

He weaves his milestone together with the 222nd anniversary of his hometown, adding an artistic touch of nostalgia. Through his writing, he reflects on his place of birth, eQhagqiwa (now Kariega), also known as the Garden Town. This affectionate nickname was earned for the local heritageu2019s exotic peri-urban wilderness, home to the Sunshine Coastu2019s Groendal Nature Reserve, eNgqalo, the third-largest wilderness conservation area in South Africa. Kariega is beautifully positioned in the foothills of the Cockscomb Mountain (iintaba zika Vuba), part of the Groot Winterhoek mountain range, where the townu2019s official flower, the Strelitzia (iKhamanga), blooms in abundance.

Mancapau2019s perspective, and his approach to sharing information, is deeply influenced by his education in Lesotho and the management principles he learned in Germany.

He played a key role in leading a successful bid for the Heavy Commercial Vehicles (trucks and buses) production business of Volkswagen South Africa, defeating nine local and international competitors. While the deal ultimately did not succeed, the experience inspired the title story. What may seem like an old saga is, to Mancapa, still a vivid and important memory. His emotive account offers direct and compelling communicationu2014a candid reflection of the experience, calling it what it is.
